Monday Flag Raising Ceremony of Laoag City
On September 14, 2015, the City Government of Laoag had its weekly Monday ceremony in front of the Laoag City Hall. The program started with the flag-raising, with the help of the PNP staff, followed by an opening prayer, Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas, Panunumpa ng Kawani ng Gobyerno, and singing the official song of Laoag City, “SHOUT LAOAG.” It was participated in by the officials of the City government led by Hon. Chevylle V. Farinas, the employees of the city, and Public Information Officer, Mr. Ramon Formantes, the Master of Ceremony. After the flag raising ceremony, City Health Office Nurse, Ms. Jennifer Peralta, Coordinator of the free cataract operation program, reported the recent activity of the CHO, in relation to the Sight-seeing month, as part of the A CAUSE for AUGUST. 25 lucky beneficiaries received free cataract operations at the Laoag City General Hospital. It was spearheaded by all the Ophthalmologists of Ilocos Norte led by Dr. Mary Anne Yasay Luis, together with the sponsors of the City Health Office and the City Government of Laoag. A beneficiary of the free cataract operation expressed his gratitude for programs like this.
The Bureau of Fire Protection also conferred to 12 BFP officers Certificates of Commendation for their outstanding performances last August 7, 2015 in the extrication of a victim in Brgy. 54-B, Camangaan, Laoag City. The recipients were Sr.Inspector Bonifacio Sacratapos, Jr., FFO2 Rolly Domingo, FO3 Balvos Santiago, FO3 Alberto Unnagan Jr., FO2 John Patrick Anghel, FO2 Glenn Mc Neil Cabias, FO2 Reymondo Atud, FO1 J-AR Domingo, FO1 Mark Geli Pungtilan, FO1 James Arthur Jaranillo and FO1 Martin Racho. Laoag City Mayor Chevylle Fariñas, City Administrator Perry Martinez and City Councilor Ferdinand Domingo handed over the certificates.
Distribution of relief goods was also given by Boardwalk Business Ventures Incorporation, in coordination with the City Social Welfare and Development Office. There were 174 beneficiaries of the activity.
The mother of the City, Mayor Chevylle Fariñas, thanked the people of Laoag City, as well as the government employees for the support and trust that they had bestowed upon her, together with the Father of the City, Vice Mayor Michael Fariñas. She also thanked the Boardwalk Business Ventures Inc., for the relief goods that were given to the typhoon victims. She emphasized that though Boardwalk is not a government agency, the company is helping and supporting the programs of the City.
Further announcements were given by Mr. Formantes as he reminded everyone that all government employees should work dedicatedly, and be utterly passionate with their jobs, serving always with a smile.
