We Salute You Lolo and Lola, “Kaya ni Lolo, Kaya ni Lola”
Another year has come to show our support for the senior citizens of Laoag City. “Kaya ni Lolo, Kaya ni Lola” was spearheaded by the City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Mrs. Aurora Corpuz, for our dearest Lolos and Lolas.
On August 27, 2015, at 1:00 in the afternoon at the City Auditorium, the event started with a Doxology by Federation of Senior Citizen Association of the Philippines (FSCAP) Asst. Secretary, Mrs. Teresita Edu, followed by the National Anthem and the Welcome Address of Social Welfare Officer III, Mrs. Perlita B. Cabello.
Masters of Ceremony were the Cluster Director, Mrs. Gloria Managuira, Vice President for Operation, Mr. Arsenio Sandi, and Social Welfare Officer I, Ms. Fe Respicio, who made the event full of life.
The 80 barangays of Laoag is composed of 7 clusters wherein per cluster has its own presentation, where the senior citizens were able to show their talents. Some enjoyed dancing while others sang.
The spirit of the event came into its climax when the awarding started. The thrill of the senior citizens was very apparent when the “Lolo of the Day” and “Lola of the Day” were chosen at random.
Congratulations to Mr. Edgar de los Trino, the FSCAP Bus. Manager of Brgy. 12, Laoag City, for he was chosen the “Lolo of the Day”, and to Barangay Señior Citizens Association (BASCA) Treasurer of Brgy. 11, Laoag City, Ms. Trifonia Furification, for she was selected as the “Lola of the Day”. Another pair of special awards were given to Mrs. Erlinda Paulino and Col. Arturo Agbayani for Mr. and Mrs. Vita Plus, respectively.
Everyone enjoyed the event and served as a socialization party of the senior citizens. It was one way of showing how we salute and admire our senior citizens, that even for a while; they felt that they are really important to us.
Unending and full support from the father and mother of the City, Vice Mayor Michael V. Fariñas and Mayor Chevylle V. Fariñas, made the event an overwhelming success.
