Launching of the Product Display Center/Pasalubong Center of Laoag City

The province of Ilocos Norte is undoubtedly one of the most favored destinations for tourists in the country as evidenced by the recorded number of tourists, reaching to about half a million last summer season alone. The province also holds the record for being one of the provinces with the most remittances from abroad due to its large number of overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and migrants.

The City of Laoag is the capital of the province and it is where adventure in the province starts. Hence, the establishment of a Product Display Center through the BUB Project is considered the most responsive to the current needs of the city, its people, and its guests/visitors. The establishment of a Product Display Center addresses the perennial concern of tourists and balikbayans for a place where they could shop the best products of the province.

The Center is a one-stop-shop establishment and it  showcases  all the best products of the Ilocandia Region, giving emphasis to the industry/product champions of the province. The center is the best venue for the local MSMEs  (Micro Small & Medium Enterprises) from the province of Ilocos Norte to include Laoag City.

Mayor Chevylle V. Farinas has instructed the City Social Welfare and Development Office to assign personnel in the Display Center on a 24 – hour shift, taking note of the influx of tourists, especially in the evening, to buy their souvenirs and “pasalubong”. She has also instructed the Department of Public Safety and the Philippine National Police to implement the 15-minute allowable parking time for tourists, local and foreign.
