Laoag City Bags 6 CY 2015 RDC-1 Awards
The City Governnment of Laoag is a recipient of six (6) different awards for CY 2015 conferred by the Regional Development Council (RDC) I on April 20, 2016.
The Search for the LGU-NGO Partnership CY 2015, Sustaining the Implementation of Integrated Solid Waste Management Program Through the Public-Private Partnership Scheme, wherein Laoag City and the Government of Laoag Employees Development Cooperative (GLEDCO) emerged as Champion. This award was received by the “partners” for the first time, considering that there are other partnership endeavors which the City of Laoag and GLEDCO are into, such as the management of the Pharmacy at the Laoag City General Hospital (LCGH), including the Grocery and Catering Services of LCGH, which are incidentally also tapped during emergency response situations, and the Provision of Relief Goods during typhoons and other calamities.
The Search for Cleanest, Safest and Greenest Local Government Unit (LGU) in Region I, where Laoag City emerged as the Champion for the City Category. Having maintained this award as Champion for the 3rd time, Laoag City was conferred the Hall of Fame Award in the said category.
Laoag City also garnered the Second Place in the Most Competitive City in Government Efficiency for the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) National Competitiveness Council for CY 2015.
A Certificate of Appreciation for the Search for the Best LGU-CRM Implementer, with its Mangrove Plantation at Barangay Caaoacan, Laoag City as its focal area, was also awarded. Laoag City was also given a Certificate of Recognition for the Experiential Learning: Changing the Lives Through Farmers Class, a project of the City Agriculturist’s Office.
For CY 2016, it is expected that Laoag City will again reap more recognitions on Good Local Governance from award giving bodies, both in the national and regional levels.
