Laoag City Beauty Bags One of the Main Crowns of Ms. Philippines-Earth 2016

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n the recently held Ms. Philippines Earth 2016 beauty pageant, 46 lovely candidates from the different Cities and Municipalities in the entire Philippines, and  some  International Filipina beauty delegates, bared their beauty, intelligence, and best during the coronation night on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the UP theater in Diliman Quezon City.

Laoag City candidate Loren Mar Artajos was crowned Ms.Water 2016. She  is 25 years old and a Nursing Board passer from Mariano Marcos State University and currently living at Barangay 1 San Lorenzo Laoag City. In her profile on the Miss Philippines Earth website, she eloquently said,” I want to be an advocate of the environment, spread awareness of the current climate change issues the world is facing today, and implement measures to mitigate global warming”.

During the Coronation Night, the stunning 46 candidates were trimmed down to 12, each picking from a bowl a hashtag and asked to elucidate on it. Loren Mar picked the hashtag #BeBrave and said, “I know that everyone of us is suffering from fear and anxiety, however, each and everyone has the capacity to be brave and so here I am daring you all to look deep inside of you, be brave to fight the struggles that you are experiencing now because life is all about trying to live up to it, to live a life that’s full of love and joy. Be brave!”

Joining the five finalists she was asked again, “If you had the chance to talk one-on-one with president-elect Duterte, what assistance would you ask from him on your climate change advocacy?” Loren Mar confidently answered: “Climate change is one the pressing environmental issues nowadays in the world, and Ilocos Norte is known to be the only country in South East Asia wherein the first windmills have been created and the largest wind farm in South East Asia, and i would like to ask President-elect Duterte to give assistance and opportunities not only to my province but also to all the other parts of the Philippines to promote clean and renewable energy as related to my advocacy! Good evening.”

Loren Mar was also given a special award as one of the Hannah’s beauties of Nature during the said event.  Imelda Schweighart from Puerto Princesa was crowned as the new Miss Philippines Earth 2016, Miss Eco-tourism, Melanie Mader from Vienna, Miss Philippines Fire, Shannon Rebecca Bridgman from Rosales, Pangasinan, and Miss Philippines Air, Kiaragiel Gregorio from London.
