Trabaho Mo, Sagot Ko! Job Fair 2016
It was a triumphant day for the City of Laoag, despite the heavy downpour, as once again, the annual Trabaho Mo, Sagot Ko Job Fair 2016 kicked off with a bang. This activity is part of the A Cause for August, a month-long celebration of the birthday of the Father of the City, Honorable Michael V. Farinas, which is on August 26.
As early as 7:30 in the morning of August 15, 2016 at the City Basketball Court, job-seekers were already lining up the bulletin boards where vacancies were being posted by the staff of the Office of the City Community Affairs Officer (CAO) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the two lead agencies of this activity. Interestingly, other Laoaguenos, particularly those returning to the fold of the law, or “balik loob-ers” as what Mayor Chevylle V. Farinas would rather call them, were present to enlist for possible jobs and to fill out forms for the city’s data base on labor force pool.
Mayor Chevylle spearheaded the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon, together with the DOLE officials and Department Heads of the city government, and witnessed by all employees and participants. 25 Business establishments responded to the invitation by the CAO to conduct job recruitment and selection, with a total of 1,574 job vacancies at stake. At the end of a very wet and tiring day, there were 128 registered applicants coming mostly from Laoag City as well as nearby municipalities.
Thank you to the Mother and Father of the City, Hon. Chevylle and Michael V. Farinas, for the endless love and support to our fellow Laoagueños as you continue to give hope and inspiration to those who are less fortunate in life.
To the Father of the City, Honorable Michael V. Farinas, Happy Birthday Sir!
