Laoag City Joins 116th Civil Service Anniversary Walk for a Cause and Hataw Sayaw 2016

On September 09, 2016, around 60 delegations, including the Local Government Unit of Laoag City, participated in the celebration of the 116th Civil Service Anniversary with a “Hataw Sayaw” at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Memorial Stadium. The contingents were composed of officials and employees of the different Local Government Units (LGUs), National Government Agencies (NGAs) of Ilocos Norte, and the different DepED campuses in Ilocos Norte. The said activity commenced the celebration of the 116th Philippine Civil Service anniversary with this year’s theme, “Sigaw ng Lingkod Bayani: Malasakit para sa Taumbayan, Kapwa Kawani at Kalikasan”, or compassion with action for our health, the environment, deserving  public servants, and the Filipino public, who are the clients of government service offices.

Participants congregated in front of the Laoag City Commercial Complex as early as 5:30 in the morning and started walking around 6:30 AM towards the  Memorial stadium. The Director of the Civil Service Commission of Ilocos Norte, Ms. Nieves Duldulao, gave her opening remarks and shared her short but momentous words about the celebration of 116th anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service. She further explained the different activities of this year’s anniversary celebration which includes the outreach program at Shekinah Orphanage in Dingras Ilocos Norte, the giving of full length of service awards to be held at the Laoag City Auditorium on September 23, 2016, and the mangrove planting and HRMP family day at Badoc, Gabut Ilocos Norte on September 30, 2016.

Ms. Duldulao underscored the necessity of the “walk for a cause” activity, emphasizing that it is symbolic of the importance we give to maintaining our physical health so that we can be of better service to others.

The Walk for a Cause and Hataw Sayaw ended when the participants left the Mariano Marcos Stadium, with joyful smiles drawn in their faces, not only because they had fun but also they realized that they helped someone in every dance step that they executed.
