Laoag City is not only a Hall of Fame Awardee as the Most Business Friendly LGU, a recipient of the Local Good Governance for three years now in a row, as a Hall of Famer in the Cleanest and Greenest Component City in the Philippines, but also the safest Local Government Unit in the Region I.
In the yearend report of the Laoag City Philippine National Police Station, statistics show flat from a high 589 crimes committed in 2014, to a slightly lower number in 2015 (533), in 2016 ending December, only 98 crimes were recorded.
Furthermore, for the first time in the history of Laoag City, there was a zero incident of crimes committed on New Year’s Eve, including indiscriminate firing and firecracker incidents.
According to Superintendent Edwin C. Balles, Laoag PNP Chief, the dramatic decrease of crimes has a lot do with the operation “Tokhang” of President Rodrigo Duterte, He is confident that with the new patrol car donated by the City, the crime picture will still improve in the coming days and months.
