TROPA (Trusted Representatives Of Peace Award)

TROPA or Trusted Representatives Of Peace Award, was designed to promote the morale, efficiency, integrity, responsiveness, progressiveness, and courtesy of the employees of the city government. The mother of the city, Hon. Chevylle V. Farinas, initiated this program to inspire and motivate employees who have exemplified extraordinary performances in their different respective duties.

On January 30, 2017 during the regular Monday flag-raising ceremony in front of the city hall, Mayor  Farinas, City Administrator Jamie V. Farinas, and some members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, conferred the first-ever edition of the award  to Mr. Norman C. Gomez and Mr. Jhun Rhey Dwayne Fernandez, both members of the Civil Security Unit, for their extraordinary performance particularly during the incident that happened at the Laoag City Commercial Complex and Supermarket.

In that specific incident, at around 7 o’clock in the morning, a group of “Budol-Budol” gang or snatchers grabbed the bag of one of the vendors then ran and hid in one of the shops in the market. But because of the immediate response of these CSU members, the culprit was apprehended and turned-over to authorities.

Ms. Shiela De Leon, Market Superintendent, presented the awards and said that more of these will be given in the coming days. She made mention of a similar award, the GAGET or Government Award for Good-conduct Efficiency and Trust, conferred for the first time to Mr. Mark Policarpio of the General Services Office, intended to reward good and proper conduct of employees of the city government. She thus encouraged everyone to emulate these awardees, not just to be credited of the award, but because we are all public servants. After all, as we always pledge every end of the flag-raising ceremony, that “we serve the public in the best way we can, with a smile”.
