BFAR awards Fishing Gears and Livelihood Equipments to thefisherfolks of the City Government of Laoag

As part of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) commitment to help the affected by “Typhoon Lawin”,   the agency awarded fishing gears and livelihood equipments to the fisherfolks of Metro Lapaz, Metro Gabu and Caaoacan as a start-up livelihood project.

This fishing gears and equipment is an initiative of the City Government of Laoag through the Office of the City Agriculturist.

The fishing gears and equipment were awarded by the Undersecretary of Fisheries, Department of Agriculture and Concurrently the BFAR National Director, Com. Eduardo B. Gongona, PCG (Ret.), BFAR RFO I Director Nestor D. Domenden and , PFO Ilocos Norte, Roy Gonzales last  January 25, 2017 at the Centenial Arena, Laoag City.

The fishing gears and livelihood equipments were turnover to the fisherfolks of Laoag this January 30, 2017 during the flag raising Ceremony. Among these are the following:2 units Chest Freezer (2 in 1 function) and Chiller for CFLC, 2 units motorized banca (20-footer) w/ 6hp marine gasoline engine with complete propulsion accessories, 3 units payao, 25 units handline (shallow), 25 units handline (deep sea), 6 units bottomset gill net, 4 units basic fish stall (stand alone), 10 units fish cladding and 1 unit acquairum.

The turnover was attended by the City Mayor, Chevylle V. Fariṅas, Vice Mayor, Michael V. Fariṅas, SP Member, Committee Chairman on Agriculture Ferdinand L. Domingo, SP Member, Franklin Dante A. Respicio, ABC President, Mikee V. Fariṅas and City Administrator, Jamie V. Fariṅas.
