The Department of Trade and Industry was grateful to be in the forefront in launching the 10th One Town, One Product (OTOP) Summer Trade Fair in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte from April 20 to May 1, 2017. The trade fair was participated in by various exhibitors of OTOP products from the different municipalities of Ilocos Norte

Benguet, and La Union


Ms. Remedios P. Sasutil, OIC-Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Ilocos Norte, opened and acknowledged different exhibitors and mentioned their vital role in promoting the ONE TOWN, ONE PRODUCT (OTOP). Furthermore, Mr. Edison Natividad, Micro, Small, and  Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Provincial coordinator said that “OTOP” is a priority program of the government to promote entrepreneurship and create jobs. OTOP supports micro, small and medium enterprises to manufacture, offer, and market distinctive products or services through the use of indigenous raw materials and local skills and talents.

The grand finale of the program was the proclamation of winners of the Best-Dressed Booth which Laoag City garnered the first place followed by the Municipalities of Vintar and Bacarra, second and third respectively.

Products displayed for sale were the following: Sugarcane by-products such as “basi”, sugarcane wine, molabars, “palinang”, “suka with sili”, and the famous Laoag City’s OTOP “Sukang Iloko”. Other products labeled as “BES” which caught the attention of the BOARD OF JUDGES,  were the farm products properly arranged in a giant “kuribot” which is also an added attraction of Laoag City’s Booth jointly arranged by the City Mayor’s Office, and City Social Welfare and Development Officer, the City Agriculturist’s Office, and the Cooperative’s Office.
