DAR, DPWH, open the Buted Bridge to the public
The Undersecretary of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Ms. Sylvia F. Mallari, led other government officials of the DAR and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), together with the Laoag City officials and employees led by Hon. Mayor Chevylle V. Farinas and Hon. Vice Mayor Michael V. Farinas, in the blessing and inauguration of the Buted bridge at Barangay Lataag, Laoag City.
The project was funded under President Duterte’s program, Tulay ng Pangulo Para Sa Kaunlarang Pang-Agraryo. The 16 Million peso bridge, which features advanced anti-accident characteristics, foremost of which is its anti-skid surface and stylish but sturdy railings, connects with the farmers of Barangay Lataag and adjacent areas by providing a venue to transport their produce to the marketplace, the Undersecretary emphasized. She revealed that another three or four more bridges will be built in Laoag City this year. Undersecretary Mallari heads the Foreign Assisted and Special Projects Office of the DAR. Project Director Gil Villanueva of the DPWH and OIC Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer of Ilocos Norte, Mr. Vic Ines, assisted the Undersecretary.
Rev. Ambrose Emeric Monroy of the Diocese of Laoag officiated the blessing of the bridge, which coincided with the scheduled Agserbi 24/7 Walang Iwanan program of the City government. The latter is a pet program of Mayor Chevylle V. Farinas, where she brings all the services of the city to the barangay folks and dialogues with them regarding barangay affairs.
