Culmination of FFS on Vegetable Production

The graduation exercises of the Season-Long Farmers Field School (FFS) on Vegetable Production held at Barangay Bacsil North, Laoag City on October 3, 2017 included 32 participants who were confirmed graduates. The activity was conducted by the City Government of Laoag through the Office of the City Agriculturist, in collaboration with the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 1. The activity was participated in by vegetable growers whose memberships come from the different barangays of Laoag City.

The 16-week long training aimed to showcase a new package of technology in vegetable production, emphasizing eggplant production using plastic mulch and elevated beds. The season-long FFS was conducted in the barangays last June 8, 2017.

The culminating activity was highlighted by the presentation of results (agronomic characteristics and yield response of eggplant grown in four (4) treatments :Treatment 1- Organic Foliar Fertilizer Recommendation, Treatment 2-Laboratory Soil Analysis Recommendation, Treatment 3- Eastwest Technology Recommendation, Treatment 4- Farmers Common Practice) and Graduation Exercises. The occasion was graced with the presence of  Hon. Ferdinand Domingo and Hon. Franklin Dante Respicio, members of the City Council, Dr. Melinda Mangabat, Assistant Center Director of ATI-RTC 1, Mr. Rodolfo Estrada, representing Dir. Lucrecio R. Alviar, Jr of DA-RFO1, and ABC President Hon. Mikee V. Fariñas. Hon. Farinas started the 16 weeks season-long training during the launching last June 8, 2017.
