LAOAG CITY and CENRO SIGN MOA TO CREATE INTEGRATED WATERSHED MANAGEMENT COUNCIL
The City Government of Laoag through Mayor Michael Marcos Keon together with Ms. Rosalina Pungtilan CENR Officer, representing the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office signed the Memorandum of Agreement on the creation of the Integrated Watershed Management Council of the Laoag River Basin on September 27, 2022.
The inter-LGU and inter-agency Watershed Management Council was created among the ten local government units including the provincial government, together with the National Economic and Development Authority, Department of Public Works and Highways, National Irrigation Administration, Department of Agriculture, and the Ilocos Norte Water District. It aims to build consensus on how to improve cooperation to address environmental issues as well as to strengthen, protect and preserve our watershed ecosystems.
Also present to witness the signings were City Environment and Natural Resources Officer Ms. Mylene Isabel Pascual, City Agriculturist Engr. Sheila Marie Opelac and representatives from the Community Environment and Natural Resouces Office namely Mr. Rhoel Marcelo, Ecosystems Management Specialist I; Ms. Carissa Olalo, Forest Technician and Ms. Cristel Domingo, Technical Staff.
