MAYOR MMK LEADS COMMUNITY MAPPING FOR FORESTLAND PRESERVATION AND PROTECTION

NEWSFLASH: Mayor Michael Marcos Keon led the 2-day community mapping which involves field validation and reconnaissance survey at Brgy. 56-A Bacsil North which has approximately 98.1705 hectares of forestland and at Brgy. 56-B Bacsil South which has approximately 187.7 hectares of forest land on April 11 and 12, 2023, respectively. This step is necessary to be undertaken during the preparation of the Forest Land Use Plan (FLUP) of the city.

Keon administration’s long-term goal is to designate a specific area for the establishment of a man-made forest specifically for the planting of trees to be used for the production of wood products so that indigenous or natural forests will remain intact, preserved, and protected.

The community mapping team was composed of Mayor Keon, Councilor John Michael Fariñas, EnP Ruby Ann Bunalade, City Planning, and Development Coordinator; Engr. Greg Bareng, Ms Mylene Isabel Pascual, City Environment and Natural Resources Officer together with Mr. Joseph Lewilyn Acang, Forester III; Mr. Genevieve Galapia, Forester II; Mark Patrick Cacayuran, Forest Technician II; Ms Carissa Olalo, Forest Technician I; Ms April Lyne Tolentino, Forest Technician I and Ms Alma Jezrel Taligan, Forest Technician I.
